Construction Youth Trust are a charity whose aim is to inspire and enable young people to overcome barriers and discover a career in construction. Each year they work with over 4,000 young people; many of whom are the hardest to reach. They may be from challenging backgrounds including young offenders, care leavers, the long-term unemployed and also those who are just unaware of the opportunities available to them within the construction industry.
With the support of a number of major construction companies, Construction Youth Trust raises awareness and assists disadvantaged young people to access employment in the construction sector.
The Trust achieves this by delivering two main programmes which provide practical training and education as well as careers advice; Budding Builders which focuses on the trades, and Budding Brunels which focuses on the professions.
As a charity, they are champions of diversity and last year launched a national campaign called #notjustforboys aiming to encourage more young women to consider a career in construction.
Their latest campaign #ExperienceConstruction calls on the industry to pledge a placement to offer work experience to young people.
