Dr Eva Gkenakou is currently the Sustainability Director of Multiplex Construction Europe and she heads up the company’s environmental sustainability discipline.
Eva graduated from the University of Athens, Greece with a BSc in Chemistry and went on to gain an MSc in Environmental Engineering from The University of Manchester in the UK. She then worked with one of the largest inland dredging contractors on the remediation of tributyltin-contaminated dredging material, obtaining a PhD from the University of Southampton.
Eva joined Multiplex in August 2009. She has led the introduction of some innovative solutions, especially in line with the site waste management plans and WRAP’s Halving Waste to Landfill commitment. Eva co-designed, with the BRE, Multiplex’s environmental reporting system, Metrics and this software is now implemented throughout the company. It simplifies the process of waste prevention, minimisation and management and acts as a portal for monitoring a series of other sustainability parameters on projects like water consumption and carbon emissions.
She has also designed and initiated a holistic and user-friendly approach to the management of environmental and sustainability deliverables on projects from conception to construction and beyond.
