Following a degree in Modern History at Oxford, qualifying as a chartered accountant with Touche Ross & Co (now Deloittes) and then a period in Industry, Malcolm has spent the last 39 years in social housing. He began as Finance Director of Merseyside Improved Houses (now Riverside Housing Group), followed by three years with the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham as Assistant Director of Housing(Technical Services) and then chief executive of three housing associations; PCHA (now Genesis), Warden and Home Group, one of the largest providers in the UK, 1998-2008. He was made a distinguished member of the CIH in 2001.
He now has a portfolio career, which includes being an adviser to Savills Housing Division, Vice Chair of Peabody and Chair of Finance at Richmond Housing Partnership. He is also a member of the HCA Regulation Committee adviser panel.
