Margot is a Principal at Atkins and leads the Strategic Masterplanning group. She has worldwide experience in innovative urban design, masterplanning and place making at a wide range of scales. She has worked both in the UK and internationally and her projects include: Leith Docks in Edinburgh (a secondary heart for the city in an area in need of jobs and economic uplift) and Modderfontein Regeneration in Johannesburg (the first truly walkable community served by the only high speed rail line in Africa).
Margot has a strong history of designing under the sustainable development agenda and realistically achieving long lasting, low impact masterplans. She specialized is transport oriented mixed-use development and helped to shape LEED Neighborhood Development during the pilot program.
Thinking strategically and creating vibrant and lively destinations through design are Margot’s strong points. She has extensive experience facilitating and presenting at strategic workshops, with clients and stakeholders, as well as providing masterplan design options, programming advice, and phasing/delivery recommendations. Margot consistently and effectively leads teams including economist, engineers, transport specialist, and environmentalists; ultimately leading to remarkably efficient and deliverable projects.
