British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Safety
Stewart Kidd MA, MSc CSyP, FIFireE, FIFSM, FSyI, FSA (Scot), CPP has worked in security and fire protection since 1974. He now combines consultancy with expert witness assignments. He is presently advising insurers on a number of very large construction projects including the new Jeddah airport, the Kingdom Tower and the Al Dar project in Khazakstan.
His primary interest is in the application of modern techniques for the protection of cultural resource buildings particularly involving adaptive reconstruction and changes of use. He is the author of eight books including the Scottish ACOP on heritage fire safety.
He was the director of the Fire Protection Association from 1989 – 1997 and is a former Governor of the Institute of Risk Management. He is a Vice President of both the Institute of Fire Safety Managers and the Security Institute and was elected a Chartered Security Professional in 2012. He was Secretary General of the British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association from 2000 – 2015 and continues to be a Special Projects Adviser to BAFSA.
