At the Women in Engineering Society, from the University of Sheffield, we aim to inspire, to involve and to improve.

We aim to inspire the next generation of engineers and to raise awareness about the field. Our published children's book 'Suzie and Ricky: The Crash Landing' is one example of how we have worked towards this goal. We also aim to involve engineering students, providing opportunities to take part in outreach events and projects. Furthermore, we aim to improve the employability of students by providing workshops, talks and other events.

Women are currently underrepresented in engineering - a fact that leads to a loss of talent and innovation in engineering. Perceptions of engineering can act as a barrier to women entering the field. Our society aims to redress the gender imbalance of the discipline and to provide a platform for everybody, regardless of age or gender, to excel in engineering.
