'3.5bn Kent Theme Park Opens Pre-Procurement Registration for Firms
The London Resort has opened its pre-procurement registration for firms that would like to be considered in delivering the planned 500 acre theme park.'
The project is being delivered by London Resort Company Holdings. They have written that the project is being founded on low carbon and sustainable principles, with an aim to make the park the '...one of the most sustainable theme park destinations in the world'.' The London Resort will be based in the Swanscombe Peninsula in North Kent and will be set over 465 hectares, which will include a new dedicated access road to the A2 and easy access to Ebbsfleet International Station.'
There has been over '1bn invested into the park, leading to it being designated as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. It was the first business or commercial project to be accepted under the planning act as an NSIP by the UK Government since 2008.'Europe has not seen a development of this kind being built from scratch since the opening of Disneyland Paris in 1992. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2022, with the resort hoping to open its doors in 2024.'
'Innovative, relevant, flexible'
The three core principles at the heart of the development are to be 'innovative', 'relevant' and 'flexible'. After an extensive consultation process, the revised Master Plan includes a green network and integrates local public rights of way. It will also improve access to the river for visitors and the surrounding local communities.'
