CIBSE to tackle key issues from AI to zero carbon building at elementalLONDON
CIBSE, the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers, is promising to tackle the key issues around buildings decarbonisation in a packed programme at its Influence Theatre at this year’s elementalLONDON show, co-located with London Build 2026.
The consultants’ body has been leading the push for lower carbon buildings with its collaboration with architects group RIBA on the UK Net Zero Buildings Standard and on the first day of elementalLONDON, Wednesday 25th November, it will be addressing how the Standard is working in practice, one year on from its launch.
A timely session in the Influence Theatre on Wednesday 25th is set to be the discussion of the Global Cooling Pledge – which commits signatory countries, including the UK, to reduce cooling-related emissions by 68% by 2050. As CIBSE notes, this will require ‘hard engineering choices for UK building service engineers’ around refrigerants, passive design and smart controls.
Also timely in the context of the current heatwave, CIBSE members will address overheating and other climate adaptation priorities for both new and existing buildings.
CIBSE will also be presenting the results of its research into the impact of AI on the building services disciplines, along with a host of other key topics, including: heat network zoning; embodied carbon; grid-enabled smart buildings; water resilience; and closing the performance gap.
