Alexis Butterfield

Alexis is Pollard Thomas Edwards’ specialist partner in new settlements and champions intelligent neighbourhood design throughout the practice.

His expertise lies in solving complex problems in the concept design and planning stages regardless of scale for from small sites through to urban extensions and new settlement masterplans.

With more than two decades-worth of PTE projects behind him, Alexis has a deep understanding of the role placemaking plays in nurturing community identity, and the relationship between private and shared space - qualities embodied in the RIBA Award-winning The Avenue in Saffron Walden and the car free green streets of Knights Park in Eddington. Alexis’ recent projects have included holistic design coding and include the Wing Design Guide, The Cherry Hinton Design Code, and the 2021 Cambridge Sustainable Housing Design Guide.

Alexis is an Academician of the Academy of Urbanism and member of the National Trust Historic Environment Advisory Group.
