Assistant Pre Construction Manager, St Williams, Berkeley Homes

Having studied a degree unrelated to the built environment (anthropology) I found myself drawn to the world of property. I suppose this makes sense as property is ultimately about people! I started as an interior design assistant within our technical department which gave me a great insight into not only the architectural side of the business, but a wider look into the industry as a whole, sparking an interest in the more construction and planning elements. Following this interest, I then moved to my current role to become assistant pre construction manager where I am now involved in bridging the gap between planning and build. I am a member of St James/ St William's D&I committee, the first within the Berkeley Group, where I am very passionate about ensuring this industry is accessible for all.

Statement:
The construction industry in the UK has admittedly come a long way in terms of diversity, equality and inclusion, but there is still a long way to go! It is reckoned that only 14% of the construction workforce is female, with only 1% of skilled workers being female. These figures desperately need to change and I am passionate about being apart of that change.
