Board Director, BUCKLEY GRAY YEOMAN (BGY)

Andrew Henriques is a Board Director at Buckley Gray Yeoman and brings over 18 years’ Chartered Architect experience across Workplace, Residential, Education, Hospitality and Retail, spanning the UK and Europe. His signature focus is the sustainable reuse and retrofit of existing buildings, championing a “retrofit‑first” approach to reduce carbon emissions and conserve resources.

He is currently overseeing several major developments across the UK, notably;

The Shepherd Hotel, Mayfair, London: a two‑storey CLT top extension that reimagines an 82‑key boutique hotel, paired with the meticulous restoration of the Grade II listed Georgian corner terrace to create 16 private residences.

Colmore Gate, Birmingham: a standout 1990s post‑modern office tower and podium retrofit, rejuvenated into a dynamic 200,000 sq ft Grade‑A workspace campus.

1 Georges Square, Bristol: a 160,000 sq ft retrofit delivering a city centre headquarters for a British tech‑engineering firm.

151 Shaftesbury Avenue, London: a bold modernization of an early 2000s office building, featuring a top extension with enduring amenity, a high‑performance façade, and low‑energy services to realise a highly sustainable repurposed central London workspace.

Andrew also chairs the New London Architecture expert panel for Retrofit and Conservation, a specialist think‑tank where industry leaders explore, challenge and shape the future of retrofit.
