Angela Brady OBE PPRIBA RIAI
Angela graduated in Architecture from T.U.Dublin (DIT Bolton St) who gave her an Honorary Doctorate PhD in 2011 and she sits on T.U. Dublin Foundation Board. She did
her part III at Westminster University. Angela won a post graduate scholarship to study Danish Housing Design in Copenhagen. She is a founding member of the RIAI London
Forum and sat on RIAI Council for several years.
Angela is a past president of the Royal Institute of British Architects (2011-2013) - voted the most effective president in past 20 years - (AJ Survey). As RIBA President she gave over 100 keynote speeches worldwide, including in China, Vietnam, India, USA, EU, UK Ireland and the Middle East on sustainable city making and low carbon design. She champions diversity, equality and sustainable low carbon buildings. She chairs Croydon Place Review Panel, and is an ambassador to Design Council UK. She was President of Architects Benevolent Society 2016-2018.
Personal achievements include and OBE (Officer of the British Empire) for services to architecture and education; a PDSA (Irish – President’s Distinguished Service Award) for services to architecture. Hon Doctor of letters and lifetime achievement award from Westminster Uni and Hon PhD from TUD.
As a professional TV broadcaster Angela co wrote and co presented with Dr Sandra O’Connell the landmark TV series “Designing Ireland” on RTE 1, about Irish Design;- Architecture, Craft, Industrial Design and Design Thinking. She also presented a 6 part international city design show called “The Home Show” on Channel 4 and designed and built a low carbon house on “Building the Dream”, with 65 episodes on ITV. As an Artist Angela works in fused glass craft and has curated and taken part in the “www.10HandsCrafts.com” exhibitions in Dublin, Cork, London in 2015 and Hangzhou China Craft Week as focus country in 2019 promoting West Cork crafts people. She also paints artworks in acrylic for hospitals and private commissions and is often asked to donate fused glass art prizes for charity auctions. www.angelabradydesigns.co.uk
