Azzees Minott

Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, 2-3 Degrees

o-founder Azzees Minott worked at the Citizen Advice as a generalist advisor specialising in Housing support for those at risk of being unable to sustain their tenancy. She worked to develop social policy campaigns that supported systemic change when Local Authorities and Housing Associations provided new tenancies. Azzees then worked at Greater London Authority for the London Assembly as Political Researcher covering housing as one of her briefs. She worked alongside campaigners and interest groups to advocate for early, wide and meaningful consultations on housing developments. Following that she moved over to working for the Mayor of London, as a Housing Area Manager. There she worked on large development and regeneration projects including a £290 million Housing and Infrastructure project, in collaboration with the Government and Transport for London. Throughout her experience she noticed that young people’s voices were either hardly platformed/ heard or engagement activities were tokenist. She observed that the 2-3 Degrees personal development programmes offered young people a great opportunity to develop and enhance key skills they needed for life, and post programme, many young people were keen to apply their learning to local, civic projects.

Statement:

There's so much variety in the construction industry and I'm passionate about helping more young people from global majority backgrounds increase their insight and awareness to access jobs in the built environment.
