Having worked in the industry for the past 13 years, I've been involved in various areas of the construction industry from behind a desk, to on site project management in the waste management sector, remediation and consultancy. In this time I've gained a huge variety of experience I feel I can share with the wider network of women in construction.

Statement:

Working in a male dominated industry is certainly not without its challenges. It hasn't been all bad, but it has definitely not been easy; being the only woman on site, the only woman in board meetings, being viewed as potentially inexperienced or a nuisance. But don't let this put you off, it has only made me more determined to work harder and prove myself! Being an ambassador for WIC allows me to share my experience with the wider network of women in construction, and equally gain support from likeminded individuals; I only wish I had known of groups such as this sooner when I first started 13 years ago.
