ARQUITECTURA CBC

Since I was a little girl, my mother always used to tell me that I would become an architect, because I used to draw everything I found, bread, wall, table… When the time to go to university came, the only option in my head was to study architecture in Seville. I finished my studies course per year and worked in NY for a while, then I moved to Madrid in the middle of the crisis, but thanks to my perseverance and dedication, I always had a job and did various projects and works in Madrid. In recent years, I have been able to create my own company Arquitectura CBC (arquitectosmadrid.org), being the first in Madrid converting locals into houses. In the following year, God willing, we will lead the way in bioclimatic house projects.

Why is it important to support diversity and inclusion?

In the age in which we live, I still find people who do not see well that a woman can make a technical inspection of a building or even know how the structure of it is built. Sometimes I have supervised works, in which I have been forced to show my character because certain bricklayers did not tolerate me telling them how they had to do their work. The opposite side, thanks God, it is mostly the people who choose me as their trusted professional without looking if I am a woman or a man, they only appreciate the professionalism and the good work done. I believe that women have a lot to contribute in this world, because the architect woman is diligent, hard-working, responsible, tenacious, strong and capable to the end of developing any architectural work. Sometimes I think sadly that if I dressed up as a man, my success would be even greater.
