Project Specification Manager, Knauf

I originally trained as an interior designer at Glasgow School of Art and always knew I wanted to work in the design/architecture/construction world. My dad was a technology and design teacher and I often used to sketch out my designs on his left over tracing rolls. I gained 17 years of experience in the interior design world. Working for large firms such as BDP and Chapman Taylor.on award winning schemes in Ireland and the UK. However unfortunately due to covid I was made redundant-as interior design is seen as a luxury rather than necessity. The last recession saw me move from BDPs Belfast office to their Sheffield office therefore being a resilient person I knew a change was needed. I looked to the specification world and haven’t looked back. Having worked for Knauf for almost 3 years now, I enjoy that I am still part of the Built environment and working with Architects and Main contractors on a daily basis. Working as a Project Specification Manger for Knauf specifying Plasterboard, Ceilings, Flooring and Plasters, it may not be as glamourous as Interior design but is a pivotal part of any build!

Statement:

"We need the built environment to cater for a variety of needs. By encouraging diversity, equality and inclusion within the construction industry this will help to ensure that everyone can benefit from a prosperous sector."
