Previously, I worked for Waitrose and Partners for seven years and studied Economics, Politics and Public Policy at Goldsmiths University. I then took the plunge and moved into the construction industry. I now wish I’d made the leap sooner! After doubting that I could work in this industry due to my gender, I decided to challenge myself and follow in my grandfather’s footsteps; he has worked in the industry for over 30 years and I’ve always admired him personally and professionally - he’s my superhero! I want to prove to myself and other women that girls can and do work in this industry. There are some challenges to working in construction. Some are physical - there are instances where I’m simply not tall enough to measure something, for example. But the main one for me is that being in a male-dominated environment generally, I do miss girly chats!

Diversity, equality and inclusion is important because we are ALL important and should be included regardless of what makes us unique!
