Chris Read is a highly experienced property professional with over 20 years in the UK fit out and construction sector. As a leader in the £1bn major property change programmes for Lloyds Banking Group, Chris oversees a substantial annual investment plan across a portfolio of more than 1,500 locations, including data centres, offices, and retail branches. Chris is responsible for ensuring that all projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards, working closely with construction partners and a dedicated team of specialists.

A chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors since 2001, Chris’s career includes senior roles in both contracting and consultancy, with a strong track record of driving value, innovation, and collaboration across complex supply chains.

Chris is at the forefront of ensuring that delivery remains at the cutting edge of compliance, with a particular focus on the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022. This includes embedding robust processes for accountability and championing best practice in design, construction, and operational assurance. Chris leads on the implementation of new safety standards and continuous professional development, ensuring that teams and partners are fully equipped to meet evolving regulatory demands.

At Lloyds Banking Group, Chris’s focus is on maximising value from the Group’s investment plan, maintaining robust supplier relationships, and ensuring the resilience and sustainability of critical infrastructure. Chris is passionate about talent development, industry collaboration, and delivering environments that support both business and customer needs.
