Head of Sustainability UK, White Arkitekter

Christian Dimbleby is the UK Head of Sustainability at White Arkitekter, the international practice renowned for its expertise in climate-resilient architecture.

Christian, a qualified architect and engineer, has two decades of experience in designing and delivering radically lower carbon buildings.
Christian supports White Arkitekter in achieving its goal of delivering all carbon-neutral buildings by 2030.  Currently he is involved with the new Velindre Cancer Centre in Wales (set to be the UK’s most sustainable hospital on completion) and a range of other housing & healthcare projects.

Previously at Architype he worked on exemplar education projects including The Enterprise Centre at UEA, who’s thatch cladding and low energy use was featured as an exemplary sustainable project during COP26.  He also worked on housing projects including the technical design and delivery of Agar Grove Phases 1a & 1b scaling up sustainable design to deliver the largest Passivhaus housing scheme in the UK.

As well as being a leader in innovative processes such as Passivhaus and Building Performance Evaluation, Christian has worked with the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard to analyse best practice data and set realistic and achievable operational energy targets. He is also active in speaking on sustainable design at universities and supporting sustainability organisations.

Christian also holds a deep knowledge in natural and innovative materials, advocates for healthy and uplifting buildings, and supports the benefits of retrofit – he has developed estate wide retrofit plans and is currently developing the deep green retrofit design for his own house.
