Ciaran has been involved in building technology for more than 15 years and his career has spanned multiple geographies and hemispheres. He joined the BCIA as a Technical Consultant in April 2025 to bring his knowledge and expertise to help the organisation grow.

A Building Services Engineer by qualification, he has worked on all sides of the BEMS and building technology industry starting with a BEMS manufacturer then moving to a system integrator before getting into consultancy. This diverse career path has provided him with a unique view of the industry and the ability to bridge the gap between manufacturer to system integrator to consultant.

He believes that education is key to transformation and that we cannot change the industry as a single organisation, we need mass buy-in. He is dedicated to translating the merits of using technology in buildings to deliver outcomes rather than just ticking 'technology boxes' and that the smartest building is one that uses its existing technology to its fullest potential rather than the one full of flashy sensors.

Ciaran works one day a week for the BCIA and the other four days of his week he works as a Digital Advisory consultant with a large London based MEP firm doing everything from BMS upgrades to some of the smartest buildings in the UK.
