Councillor Victor Chamberlain

Victor Chamberlain is Deputy Leader of Southwark Council and Executive Member for Neighbourhoods, Strategic Planning and Wellbeing. He has over 12 years’ experience in local government, having previously served as a councillor in Manchester before being elected in Southwark.

Victor leads on planning, regeneration, public health and neighbourhoods in one of London’s fastest-growing boroughs, with a particular focus on delivering affordable homes, sustainable growth and thriving communities. Alongside his council role, he serves as Deputy Chair of the Local Government Association Board, helping to shape national local government policy.

Before entering local government leadership, Victor worked in the NHS on major hospital redevelopment programmes and has a professional background in communications and the built environment. He holds an MSc in Regional and Urban Planning from the London School of Economics.
