Deepthi is an overseas qualified Architect with a specialization in Sustainable Design. At PLP Architecture, she assists designs at early stages of the project, to be informed by a narrative of Building Performance and Whole Life Carbon Strategies. She ensures that designs make a positive impact on the users and on the environment simultaneously. She has experience working with projects of varied scales, typologies and geographical locations. Her motivation in the subject is through her dual role in utilizing her knowledge in the built environment though quantitative data leading to qualitative design strategies.
Following her career path since 2015, beginning as an Architect in India, and advancing towards Sustainability through her graduation from the Architectural Association in London, she finds it key to value, educate and expand the knowledge across the value chain in and out of the construction industry. Therefore, voices her concerns on climate emergency through various platforms. She has involved in assisting innovation and research internally in her practice through computational optimization and PLP Labs, and previously for Urban Sequoia during her time at SOM.
She is a co-ordinator at the Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN) for the ‘Existing Buildings’ thematic group. She is an active volunteer for London Energy Transformation Initiative (LETI) and is also chosen to be a part of the steering committee for the UK Architects Declare (AD). She is on the expert advisory panel for Carbon Pricing Strategy as a part of the Urban Land Institute’s Carbon Change Initiative. Her engagement with organizations working towards climate actions in the industry dedicates her interest in setting out core design principles to help close the performance gap and go beyond the delivery of a Sustainable Built Environment.
