Duncan Brown

Assistant Director of Regeneration & Economic Recovery, Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames
Duncan is the Assistant Director of Regeneration & Economic Development at the Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames where he is responsible for the boroughs ambitious high street regeneration programme and lead for economic development.  He is a qualified chartered town planner and has worked in urban regeneration and city planning, mainly in the UK for over 20 years. He began his career in private sector consultancy and following a stint working overseas in New Zealand, has since worked across Greater London within strategic regeneration roles at LBs of Hackney, Islington, Tower Hamlets, Lambeth and now Kingston. He has led major projects and strategy in the Docklands, at Arsenal stadium redevelopment, Olympic legacy planning and in 2013 commissioned a national award-winning Whitechapel Vision masterplan.  His current role at  Kingston is helping unlock up to £1 billion of council-led major site redevelopment, regenerating high streets, area master planning, strategic partnerships, sustainable transport and delivering employment skills, enterprise and inward investment programmes.  Most recently, he led on the launch of the Kingston Town Centre Vision that seeks to make Kingston the most sustainable metropolitan centre in the capital by 2030.
