Why is it important to support diversity and inclusion?
"I am passionate about working with young people and helping them to develop their full potential. In 2000, I became the Chairperson of the Uganda Sunrise charity using my commercial skills to break the dependency culture. Three BT Syntegra graduates became Charity Trustees, visiting Uganda and obtaining support services to the value of £350k in the first year. We ran each visit as a project, giving the graduates valuable exposure to international company directors, Government officials and local leaders - something that they couldn't gain within the commercial environment.
Over the following six years, I worked closely with the Ugandan Government, cultural leaders and grass root organisations that supported street children and returning child soldiers during the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) war."
