Hock Liong Liew is a Technical Director of Mott MacDonald in Croydon with nearly 25 years' UK and international experience in ground engineering.  He was the geotechnical team lead on Crossrail's Liverpool Street Station, leading the implementation of the observational method at Moorgate Shaft, Blomfield Box and Broadgate Ticket Hall.  He is now leading the implementation of the observational method on deep excavation assets on High Speed 2 utilising new technology based on machine learning to create more value for the project.   Within Mott MacDonald he leads the technical training initiative to support staff development and other best practice initiatives to improve productivity across the business.  He is also a Resource Manager within his department, managing resources of over 20 staff to support the current and future operational demands.
