James’ experience at Jestico + Whiles reads as a series of “once-in-a-lifetime” projects spanning the globe—from Abu Dhabi to Łódź, and from Lucerne to London—for renowned clients including Mandarin Oriental, Kempinski, W Hotels (Marriott), and Fortnum & Mason.
His work has helped establish the practice’s international reputation for design excellence, particularly in the fields of hospitality including restaurants, private members' clubs, casinos, and high-end retail.
Ever evolving, James’s recent work has increasingly embraced a “blended” approach—infusing hospitality sensibilities into other typologies such as workspace, retail, residential, and leisure environments.
An architect with a strong affinity for interior design, James is driven by a philosophy of total experiential design—aiming to balance rigour with romance, creating places that bring not only utility, but also joy and delight.
James is also an active voice in the global design community. He lectures widely on hospitality and experiential design, has chaired expert panels, and regularly speaks at international design conferences. He also serves as a juror for major international design awards.
