Julia Stevens

Chief Executive, Constructionarium Ltd

Julia's main career focus has been in recruiting and developing Emerging Talent and Early Careers employees, across a number of sectors but predominately Construction; where she has recruited over 1300 graduates. She joined Constructionarium Ltd in 2012 after being involved with Laing O'Rourke from 2006 as a participating Contractor. In heading up their Education agenda she used Constructionarium to identify talent though her role as “Stores person” on site with UCL's, Southampton and Loughborough's project weeks. As she will say “the opportunity for a week's long assessment centre with 120 students". After being made redundant, she then held the position of Head of HR, Education and Training at The Concrete Society and then HR Director for a medical devices company, before establishing her own company. It was through this she was contracted as the Development Manager for Constructionarium Ltd on a two day a week basis in March 2012. For the other three days she was employed by Edwards (a vacuum pump manufacturing company) as their Global Head of Talent, Learning and Development. She was promoted to Scheme Director and Company Secretary in April 2018 following a re-organisation (still on a two-day a week basis) and moved to full-time employment with Constructionarium Ltd as their Chief Executive on the 4th Feb 2019, a role that she relishes.

Why is it important to support diversity and inclusion?

"Working as one gives the industry it's strength".
