Kathy Wilson-Ellis
Kathy is a Chartered Ergonomist/Human Factors Specialist and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors which is a testament to her vast experience in this field.
At AECOM Kathy is the Head of AECOM’s Human Excellence capability, applying her vast 30 years’ experience within both the public and private sector. Her specialism is understanding, influencing and improving human system interaction, with a focus on physical, cognitive and organisational aspects of ergonomics in a given situation.
Kathy has always promoted active involvement with end users. Focussing on the actual activities of the individuals, the diversities and variabilities of people’s capabilities and limitations when involved in a broad context of situations, and how they are impacted by external factors such as the environment.
Kathy developed an approach that combines human factors/ergonomics (understanding HOW people interact with anything from a process, engagement, environment, or their communities), with the psychological and behaviour insight that explores WHY people interact in the way they do.
The combination of both the HOW and the WHY enables a detailed insight that results in intelligence led, sustainable solutions, interventions or improvements.
