Kurt Moroney

Associate Director, Smart Places, Jacobs

Kurt is an experienced Digital Infrastructure and Smart Places Consultant with a proven record in developing and managing a wide range of projects across public and private sectors. Kurt has used his experience in the Digital Infrastructure sector to deliver major digital programmes in the built environment across the globe.

Leading the digital and smart city disciplines for major Giga projects, Kurt has built a strong reputation for successfully integrating digital into traditional built environment design processes. This includes individual and collective smart building integrations, bringing his understanding of infrastructure, connectivity networks and end solutions together.

Kurt is currently working to integrate generative AI and large language models with smart platform architecture to consider the impacts on both design and operation of individual smart / connected buildings, and beyond into major urban areas as a collective. Kurt is working with clients here in the UK and globally to do just this, considering the role of data, innovation and the built environment to improve efficiency and consider monetisation aspects as the way we design and use cities, campuses and buildings evolve.

Kurt joined Jacobs in June 2021 following prior Smart Cities and Digital Infrastructure roles with Arup and Central UK Government DSIT (formerly DCMS). In these previous roles he helped to deliver the first wide scale urban 5G testbed in the UK with WM5G and produced technical due diligence for large-scale digital infrastructure interventions such as fibre rollouts, communication tower networks and data centre expansions.
