Leo began his career with Balfour Beatty as an Environment and Sustainability Apprentice. He has not only thrived and created environmental improvements across the numerous projects he has worked on including the TEAM2100 framework, but has also furthered Balfour Beatty’s LGBTQ+ Affinity Network and the companies engagement with the LGBTQ+ community. He became a co-chair of the network in March 2022 and has spearheaded numerous campaigns for national events such as Pride, LGBT History Month, and National Inclusion Week; but has also helped shape DEI programmes within his organisation such as providing structured and formal guidance for Transitioning in the Workplace, and discussing the intersection of ethnicity and queerness in collaboration with Balfour Beatty’s Multi-Cultural Affinity Network. He was recognised for all his work in June 2023 by reaching the Top 10 Future Leader category of the British LGBT Awards, and has appeared in conversations across the built environment discussing the future of LGBTQ+ people within the industry.
