Maela Allegretti
Maela Allegretti is a façade consultant and leader at Arup, where she heads the Bristol Façade team and plays a strategic role in strengthening the firm's presence across the South-West and Oxford region. Having spent nine years in London working on some of the UK's most ambitious and technically challenging developments, she relocated to Oxfordshire to lead and grow the local façade practice while continuing to support major projects across the UK and internationally.
With two master's degrees and over a decade of experience in façade engineering, Maela specialises in the design and delivery of complex building envelopes, with particular expertise in bespoke façade systems, building physics, circular economy principles, and whole-life carbon reduction. She is passionate about advancing sustainable design solutions and helping clients navigate the challenges of balancing architectural ambition, technical performance, and environmental responsibility.
Throughout her career, Maela has led multidisciplinary teams on a diverse range of projects spanning luxury residential, higher education, healthcare, cultural, commercial, and mixed-use developments. Her portfolio includes work across the UK, Europe, India, the United States, China and South Korea, giving her a broad international perspective on design, procurement, and construction practices.
As a speaker and industry advocate, Maela enjoys sharing insights on façade innovation, decarbonisation, circularity, and the evolving role of building envelopes in creating high-performing, resilient, and sustainable buildings.
