Mairéad is a leading figure in digital design, known for her deep expertise in architecture, information management, and BIM. With nearly two decades of experience in the built environment, she currently serves as BIM Lead for Europe and the Middle East at Grimshaw, where she oversees the digital delivery strategy across the practice’s London, Paris, and Dubai studios. Her career has spanned a wide range of sectors, from education and justice to high-end residential, commercial, and interior design, bringing a versatile and strategic lens to every project she leads.
Before joining Grimshaw, Mairéad held the role of Specialist UK BIM Innovation Lead at Buro Happold. There, she led a multidisciplinary BIM team focused on BIM and digital innovation across 14 specialist services including façade engineering, fire strategy, acoustics, security, and lighting design. Her work not only drove efficiencies but also enabled the successful delivery of complex international projects through integrated digital workflows and close collaboration with global design teams.
A long-time champion of diversity and inclusion in construction and design, Mairéad has been actively involved with Women in BIM since 2020, serving both as a mentor and speaker. She is now a Women in BIM Regional Lead, helping to shape its global impact while supporting the next generation of female digital professionals.
Her commitment to industry engagement stretches back more than a decade, from her time as Vice Chair of YEP Bristol, where she helped expand the You & Everyone in Property network into the South West, to her earlier board membership with Women in Property South West. Mairéad is also an ambassador for The Eagle Project, an initiative run by the Bristol Sport Foundation to promote education and leadership among young people through sport and mentorship.
As a regular presence on the conference circuit, Mairéad is a sought-after voice on digital innovation, AI, automation, and the evolving role of data in the AEC sector. She has spoken and chaired panels at London Build from 2021 to 2024, taken the stage at UK Construction Week in both 2023 and 2024, and most recently as a panellist at UKREiiF in 2025. In the same year, she chaired a panel discussion at Futurebuild, sharing insights on the digital future of construction.
Since 2023, she has served as a judge for the Building Innovation Awards, helping to spotlight the most forward-thinking ideas shaping the industry today. Earlier in her career, Mairéad was recognised as a UK Construction Week Role Model in 2018, receiving a Highly Commended mention for Role Model of the Year.
