I've been working in the construction industry for 16 years focusing on residential housing. My main projects involve extensions, loft conversions and refurbishment of existing properties and all my work involves dealing with Planning and Building control departments. To me, it's important to understand how existing structure works and how to implement new structural elements into the existing, so we keep balance between those two specifically referring to thermal performance, ventilation and fire safety. During the years of experience, I learned how to work within male-dominated field and how to navigate to be equal or better.
