Senior Associate, Hawkins & Associates Limited

During my career I have worked for several AJ100 architecture practices, working on a range of projects including: hotels, offices, residential, shopping centres and schools. Perhaps most notably joining EPR Architects in 1997 and becoming a company director in 2005. In 2010, I joined Tindall Riley & Co as one of the team managing the Wren Insurance Association (Wren) on behalf of its member practices, where latterly I was Director of Risk Management. As a Wren Manager, I was responsible for giving both general risk management and detailed project-specific liability advice to Wren members from the perspective of their professional indemnity insurance and in the avoidance of claims. In June 2023, I joined Hawkins & Associates’ forensic architecture team as a Senior Associate conducting investigations for the insurance and legal professions into defective design and workmanship issues in relation to buildings. I also act as a Part III examiner and have given lectures and presentations on a variety of subjects including: PI insurance, Part B and building contracts, and the architect’s role in design and build. I am currently working with the RIBA on changes to its Professional Services Contracts.

Statement:

"People lose faith in a culture that precludes their creativity and advancement, leaving to seek fulfilment elsewhere. Equality gives people a voice and inspires creativity. The construction industry will always need creative and skilled people. So why should it accept inequality."
