Marwa El-Sheemy

Project Manager (Diversity & Inclusion), Bechtel Civil Infrastructure

Marwa is Infrastructure’s Project Manager for Diversity and Inclusion responsible for managing the implementation of the D&I strategy globally. She has experience in major infrastructure projects both in the UK and Middle East working in Project Management, Engineering and Construction.
Prior to this Marwa was working on High Speed Two phase 2B working as the Senior Project Manager for the West Leg (Crewe to Manchester) responsible for managing Consultants to deliver the hybrid Bill.

Marwa has also worked on other megaprojects such as Muscat International Airport, Riyadh Metro, Crossrail and Crossrail & Reading holding roles of responsibility in Engineering and Construction Management. Marwa takes an active role in promoting diversity and inclusion within the organisation and has held positions such as Global Vice Chair for Women at Bechtel and Middle East Chair for Stewardship Advisory Council. She is also a STEM ambassador and mentors graduates both as part of Women in Rail mentoring program and as a Delegate Engineer for the ICE. She has received various awards including HS2 integrity award and Stewardship Volunteer of the Year Award.
Marwa is a chartered Civil Engineer with a master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She is a member of Society of Women Engineers, Women in Rail and Association of Project Management.
