Mattia Santi is an architect and computational designer based in London. He co-founded Sasi Studio Ltd in 2019 after having worked in several award–winning Architecture practices and several years teaching in academia. His research involves digital design, material behaviour and robotic fabrication, applied on projects at various scale from the architectural scale to product design and fashion design. He is co-founder of the research platform Data Aided Design.
Mattia worked several years at Zaha Hadid Architects as Senior Architect working on projects in Europe, America and Asia. He also teaches at the Media Studies Course DataScape at the Architectural Association, focusing on big data, media facade and computational design. He previously collaborated with other international practices in London and Rome, such as Robofold, Minimaforms, Farshid Moussavi Architects, Op-AL, Alvisi Kirimoto+Partners and his works have been widely published. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering in Rome with honours with a thesis on fast deployable prefabricated systems in collaboration with the Italian Civil Protection and then completed his post graduate MArch in Architecture and Urbanism (DRL) at the Architectural Association, where his research focused on advanced off-site fabrication systems, using phase changing materials and robotic fabrication.
