Michael Dougall is a Director at O’DonnellBrown, an award-winning Glasgow-based studio recognised for its retrofit expertise and community-focused philosophy. A former President of the Glasgow Institute of Architects, he has over 15 years of professional experience and was the youngest member of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland to be made a Fellow.

At O’DonnellBrown, Michael leads the studio’s residential work, with current projects including 209 new homes on the former Etna Foundry site in Glasgow, 43 apartments for Westpoint Homes in the Finnieston area of Glasgow, and the Gap Homes initiative with Barnardo’s, including the award-winning Gap Homes Stirling, which provides new housing for young care leavers. In the retrofit sector, Michael led the transformation of Take A Bow Opportunity Centre in Kilmarnock - an upgrade and retrofit of a 1970s community facility which expands the facilities while reducing running costs, securing the centre’s long-term viability as a vital community anchor.

Alongside practice, Michael is an examiner with APEAS, a member of the RIAS Planning Committee, and a participant in the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce’s Climate Hero programme, mentoring young people at Abercorn Secondary School as a ‘Climate Hero’ since 2022.
