Michelle Thorby
I have worked within the construction industry for less than a year after working in varying industries throughout my career spanning over 20 years. I feel I would be a great Ambassador for Women in Construction as I have made a name for myself in what is still a very male dominated industry. Out of my professional career I enjoy keeping fit by going to the gym, training in boxing and muay thai and supporting my son in his academy football.
Statement:
I feel it is extremely important to continue to attract women into the construction industry and offer them the same opportunities as male counterparts. There is a shortage of talent coming through into the construction industry and by offering women the same opportunities, I feel it will offer a wider pool of individuals. Working within a Recruitment environment, I regularly see the challenges that companies are up against and the shortage of labour. I am keen to also arrange events at schools and colleges for young women to promote that it is a great industry to go into with a wealth of opportunity and progression.
