Head of Digital Construction, Sir Robert McAlpine

As Head of Digital Construction at Sir Robert McAlpine, Nick is currently responsible for implementing and driving the integration of Digital Construction transformation and implementation nationally, ensuring consistency, and innovative ways of working, support the overall business strategy.

He is a passionate advocate of developing people and bringing digital skills not only across Sir Robert McAlpine but collaborates with industry partners and educational institutes/practices on initiatives to embed further the need for digital skills across all levels in construction.

With over 22 years’ experience working in the Construction industry, he has specialized in Digital Construction and Building Information Modeling (BIM) for the past 15 years.

Starting his career in building services consultancy before moving across into the Main contractor environment, Nick has had the privilege of working for three large main Tier 1 contractors (Skanska, Multiplex, Sir Robert McAlpine) over the past 17 years both on site and strategic level, gaining a range of experience across a variety of sectors working on iconic projects such as Paddington station (Crossrail), St Barts Hospital, 22 Bishopsgate, Goldmans Sachs HQ and 21 Moorfields.

Nick is chartered with the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB) and holds the British Standards Institution (BSI) ISO19650 professional certification. He is part of the NIMA (formerly UK BIM Alliance) affiliates group as a steering group lead and has contributed over the years to various industry Digital/BIM initiatives, papers and reports to help shape our built environment.
