Project Manager, Lendlease

I am a Project Manager working in Construction Consultancy with a keen interest in construction and structures from an early age, as a child I loved Lego. I have worked in construction for approximately five years both in technical and project management positions. At university, I achieved a Master’s degree in civil and structural engineering following an interest in mechanics and physics at A Level that led me down the engineering route. As a student, I had found the technical modules more appealing and as a result secured summer work experience as an undergraduate structural engineer during my studies. Once I had graduated, I went back to the same company, Pick Everard as a graduate engineer where I worked for just over two years. I decided to leave to pursue and develop more ‘soft’ and leadership skills working as a project support officer, eventually leading to an assistant project manager role. This led me to join Lendlease as an assistant project manager in June 2021 where I have worked since. I have revelled in the challenge of gaining the skills to become a project leader, developing the assertion skills, management of many tasks and commercial acumen. Growing as a PM has been a steep learning curve and I still have a lot to learn! Working with the Houses of Parliament as a client has had its challenges however the project team, Lendlease support and an exciting security-focused project has made it worthwhile.

Statement:

"Women in construction have come a long way but we still have a long way to go! It can be difficult to work in a male-dominated industry, and unfortunately this will deter some women. Therefore, participating in events can be a great support."
