Capt. Panos Stavrakakis, BSc, MSc, MBA, PhD, CSci, CEng, FIMarEST  Panagiotis (Panos) Stavrakakis is the Sector Manager, Construction & Built Environment at the Health & Safety Executive Science and Research Centre. Panos works closely with world class scientists to help them to use their scientific expertise and regulatory insight to address a range of health and safety risks, for individual organisations or as part of a research programme.  Panos holds his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, a Masters in Disaster Medicine and Crisis Management from the National and Kapodistrean University of Athens, a MBA in Shipping from the ALBA Graduate Business School and a Bachelor in Marine Engineering from the Hellenic Naval Academy. Panos has served in Hellenic Navy from 1989 to 2011 as a Naval Engineer Officer, initially as Chief Engineer in Surface Vessels and then in shore-based engineering roles as a senior Officer. His work in Hellenic Navy included engineering and operations management, damage control, CBRN Defence, health & safety, training and education and regional cooperation.  Since 2011, Panos is passionately working in research and innovation in a wide variety of technologies. He collaborates with academia and industry into innovative ideas and projects. Panos has published 14 peer reviewed papers and 15 scientific conference papers. He is a fellow member of IMarEST, a Charterer Marine Engineer with the Engineering Council and a Chartered Scientist with the Science Council.
