Paula McMahon wears many hats including being a Trustee of the Institution of Civil Engineers, founding chair of Engineering Together and Chair of the Women’s Engineering Society Climate Emergency Group. She started her career as an apprentice at Cleveland County Council, in the North East and has since has many different and significant roles on projects that have led to Chartered Fellowship of the ICE and CMI. Paula is passionate about inspiring young people into engineering and construction careers as well as embedding the UN SDGs and sustainability into society. Paula truly believes that we need our workforce to represent our society so we can effectively face future challenges sustainably. Paula’s significant and wide-reaching work has received many awards which give an indication of her impact and how much she has inspired others. Amongst them are Tees Lifelong Inspiration, European WICE Lifetime in Engineering, CECE NE Lifetime Achievement and UK Construction Week Icon.
