Paula McMahon
After 30+ years in engineering and construction with several high-profile positions Paula has gained Chartered Fellowships for the ICE and CMI. Paula currently works for Sir Robert McAlpine doing her dream job where she helps staff with their professionally qualifications and manages the Social Value for her project.
Paula is passionate about inspiring the next generation and the need for a more sustainable future for all. Paula is an active member of several groups who promote construction and engineering. Amongst them is being the ICE Trustee and Panel Chair for the flagship international publication ICE Proceedings: Civil
Engineering and chairing the Women's Engineering Society's Climate Emergency Group. She also sits on SRMs LGBT+ Affinity Network and Co-Chairs the Ge der Equality Network.
In addition to her day job mentoring a variety of construction and engineering professionals to be more sustainable Paula is the Chair of the Women’s Engineering Society Climate Emergency Group and the Chair of the Stockton Business Climate Coalition. Through her many forums she has made many changes to inspire changes through education. This includes championing the first ever climate change special issue of the ICE international journal proceedings and linking the SDGs to all published papers. In addition Paula has personally encouraged more than 12,000 students to make climate pledges in addition to training 28 Primary Voice Educators to train others. She is regularly asked to participate in strategic discussions with organisations such as the Institute for Government and attended the COP26 Green Zone.

I believe we can all be Role Models and allies. I encourage everyone to support others in whatever way you can. We can drive real change - so we should!
