Raj Deb is Principal and Regional Director for Life Sciences at HKS, leading the practice across the UK and globally. With nearly 30 years’ experience, Raj is a recognised specialist in the planning and delivery of complex science, research, healthcare and technology environments.

His expertise spans advanced laboratories, high-containment and animal research facilities, cGMP manufacturing, research campuses, innovation districts and science-led masterplans. He has led the planning and delivery of more than 5 million sq ft of specialist facilities, working with government, universities, research institutions, healthcare organisations, developers and investors on projects valued at more than £500 million.

Raj works at the intersection of science, design, real estate and investment, helping clients translate complex research ambitions into technically robust, commercially viable and future-ready environments. He brings a cross-sector perspective that enables him to connect scientific requirements with operational, development and commercial objectives.

Passionate about the role of the built environment in accelerating discovery and innovation, Raj is particularly interested in how emerging technologies, changing models of research and investment can shape the next generation of life sciences environments.
