Sharon studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and since graduation has worked for 25 years within several major organisations in the transport, manufacturing and building services sectors. For the last 15 years she has been working within the London transport sector, and she is the professional lead and technical authority within the TfL Engineering Transport Infrastructure Engineering function, responsible for setting the strategic direction, driving best practice, innovation and value for the Engineering directorate and wider TfL. She leads a multidisciplinary team of approximately 500 professionals in the following disciplines: Civil Engineering and the Built Environment (Architecture); Highways and Traffic; and Building Services Engineering. She is required to actively manage and control risks to the TfL business in relation to the safety, reliability and integrity of operational assets, works to continuously improve performance, enables efficient affordable delivery and supports a modern multi-mode transport engineering function. Her team is responsible for the identification and promotion of best engineering techniques, technologies and systems to further business aims. TFL logo
