Usman Yaqub PCIAT FCIAT
Usman Yaqub PCIAT FCIAT is President of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) and Founder and Principal of Studio Yaqub, an architectural practice delivering technical design, planning and support during construction services across the built environment.
Since beginning his career in architecture in 2007, Usman has built extensive experience leading projects from early feasibility and planning through to detailed design, technical coordination and support during construction. His work spans a diverse range of sectors and project scales, combining technical excellence with a strong understanding of design, regulation and project delivery.
As a business leader and Chartered Architectural Technologist, Usman is a recognised advocate for the profession of Architectural Technology and its contribution to creating safe, sustainable and high-performing buildings. He is committed to raising the profile of Chartered Architectural Technologists and promoting collaborative working across the architectural, engineering and construction professions to deliver better outcomes for clients, communities and the wider built environment.
As President of CIAT, Usman provides strategic leadership for the Institute, championing professional standards, innovation and the continued advancement of Architectural Technology. He works closely with members, industry partners and educators to strengthen the profession's influence and support its future development both within the UK and internationally.
Alongside his professional practice and leadership responsibilities, Usman is an Associate Lecturer at the University of the West of England, where he supports the development of future Architectural Technologists by connecting academic learning with contemporary industry practice. Through his combined roles in practice, education and professional leadership, he is committed to shaping a more resilient, inclusive and forward-looking built environment.
