Like many others in the fire safety sector, I am passionate about the subject and a firm believer that common sense is the most important factor when it comes to the management of fire safety. Knowledge is, by itself, significant but the application of that knowledge is paramount to creating a manageable approach, especially in the unique setting of social housing, where any form of control over the occupants of the buildings is at best, challenging! I have been managing fire safety in this arena for over a decade, working on improving conditions within existing housing and new builds. In my time, I have worked for a number of RSLs and Local Authorities, undertaken independent consultancy projects and am currently the Fire Safety Manager for London Borough of Southwark. I have a number of vocational qualifications, including the CFPA Diploma in Fire Management and am currently working towards a degree in fire engineering.
