Zoe Swyny
Chartered Construction Manager,
AECOM
I always wanted a hands-on career from a young age and my interest in property led me down the career path of becoming a Building Surveyor while I was still at school. At college, I completed a BTEC in Construction and then studied Building Surveying at the University of Reading. A short placement I completed while at college at URS (an AECOM legacy company) opened the door to my current job as a Building Surveyor at AECOM. Over the last three years, I have transitioned from Building Surveying to Construction Management and recently become a chartered member of the Institute of Building. I work on a range of different projects from university refurbishment schemes to prison refurbishment schemes acting as Technical Advisor for the Ministry of Justice. I am also a STEM ambassador and it is this role that has inspired me to work with the younger generation, in particular young women, to encourage them into the construction industry.
